North Bruce Peninsula Water Stewardship Event
The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula and the Grey Bruce Health Unit are hosting a Water Stewardship Event, 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 28 at the Ferndale Information Centre, 2926 Highway 6, Ferndale.
Targeted toward local homeowners and cottagers, this free event will raise awareness about water quality on the Bruce Peninsula and provide information about how individuals can contribute to its protection.
Expert speakers will review the Ontario Geological Survey Well Water Study, look at shoreline algae and septic system basics. There will be a septic system demonstration and a variety of exhibitors on hand.
Homeowners and cottagers are invited to bring a sample of their drinking water for a free nitrate analysis performed on-site by Health Unit staff.
“The quality of the water resources of Northern Bruce Peninsula are among the best in the country”, said Dr. Hazel Lynn, Medical Officer of Health, “it is up to all of us to ensure we play our part in maintaining this quality.”
