Earthworm middens are good for soil and for water
Is the soil healthy in your garden or field? This can be a tricky question to answer but one test you can do on your own is to count earthworm middens.
The presence of 10-15 earthworm middens, per square metre, is a good basic indicator of soil health.
Maintaining and improving soil health can lead to better water quality, resilience to low water and drought, and it has many other benefits as well.
