Protect soil health on National Soil Conservation Week ... and every week!

National Soil Conservation Week in Canada is April 20-April 26, 2025.

Healthy soils are productive soils. Healthy soils also protect water quality.

Help keep Lake Huron Healthy, from land to lake by building soil health.

Infiltration is how soil absorbs water from the surface. When water doesn't infiltrate the ground quickly, water runs off the surface, leading to erosion. The healthier the soil, the faster water infiltrates.

Soil health is also important for many other reasons including biodiversity.

Grants may be available in your area to help you with projects that protect and build soil health.

These projects include cover crops and tree planting.

Speak to staff at your local conservation authority or conservation organization to find out about programs which can help you to protect soil health and water quality along and near Lake Huron's southeast shore.
